December in Paris: A Canadian Dream
As a seasoned traveler from Calgary, I can tell you December in Paris is a revelation. While we're bundling up back home, Paris offers a comfortable 14°C with scattered clouds. This is ideal weather for exploring without the sweltering summer crowds. My last trip in December involved leisurely strolls along the Seine, a warm croissant in hand, and feeling surprisingly invigorated by the crisp air rather than battling the deep freeze.
Where to Stay: Parisian Charm on a Budget
For a truly local feel, consider the Marais district. It's historic, walkable, and brimming with character. Accommodation here can range from $150 to $250 USD per night for a comfortable, well-located hotel or a charming Airbnb. You'll be steps away from boutique shops and cozy cafés, making it easy to immerse yourself in the Parisian rhythm.
Taste of Paris & Practical Tips for Canadians
Indulge in classic French onion soup, often around $12 USD, or a flaky pain au chocolat for just $4 USD. Most places in Paris accept credit cards, but having some Euros on hand for smaller markets or bakeries is a good idea. Consider picking up a local SIM card at the airport for affordable data to navigate and stay connected. The Metro system is efficient and the best way to get around; a weekly Navigo Découverte pass is a cost-effective option.
