June Sun, Why Not?
June in Cancun offers a welcome break from the lingering cool of Halifax. Expect temperatures around a pleasant 28°C with the chance of overcast clouds, perfect for exploring without intense heat. Departing on June 5th for an 8-night stay means you'll be back just in time for mid-June activities, refreshed and recharged.
Where to Rest Your Head
For a central experience, consider staying in the Hotel Zone. You can find decent all-inclusive options here, with prices potentially ranging from $150-$300 USD per night. For a more local feel and potentially better value, look for boutique hotels or rentals in downtown Cancun, where you might find comfortable stays for $80-$150 USD per night. I last stayed near Parque Las Palapas and loved the access to local life.
Taste of Cancun & Canadian Tips
Cancun's culinary scene is a treat. Try cochinita pibil, a slow-roasted pork dish, often found for around $8-$12 USD. Seafood tacos are also a must, usually priced similarly. For Canadians, US dollars are widely accepted, but having some Mexican Pesos on hand is helpful for smaller vendors and tips. Most places take major credit cards, but it’s wise to check beforehand. Getting around is easy with local buses (a few USD) or taxis, though agree on a fare before you depart.
