September Sunshine in London
I last flew to London in September a few years ago and the weather was absolutely perfect. Imagine stepping off the plane on September 18, 2026, to a crisp 26°C with clear skies – a welcome change from Toronto's cooler autumn air. This time of year, the city buzzes with a unique energy as locals reclaim the parks and outdoor cafes, and the summer crowds have thinned. It’s an ideal time to explore without the intense heat or the winter chill.
Where to Stay: Soho & Covent Garden
For a true London experience, I always recommend staying central. Soho offers a lively atmosphere with its theatres and restaurants, and you can find boutique hotels here ranging from $200-$350 USD per night. Alternatively, Covent Garden provides a slightly more polished vibe with its market and street performers, with similar hotel prices, perhaps leaning towards the higher end of that range, $250-$400 USD per night. These areas put you within walking distance of many major attractions.
Taste of London & Practicalities
London’s food scene is incredible. Forget any preconceived notions; you can find world-class cuisine here. For a classic pub lunch, a hearty fish and chips will set you back around $20 USD. Don’t miss a traditional Sunday roast if you're there on the weekend. In terms of money, most places accept cards, but carrying some cash is always wise for smaller purchases. Getting a local SIM card upon arrival can be cost-effective for data and calls. For getting around, the Tube (subway) is efficient and extensive; an Oyster card or contactless payment works seamlessly.
